Welcome to the website of the Ortler Project, an international scientific research project that aims to obtain useful information from the summit area of the glacier “Oberer Ortlerferner” of the Ortler Alps (up to 3905 meters height in the Italian Province of Bolzano) in order to improve the knowledge of present and past climate.
The Ortler Project aims to offer specific services to the schools of the Province of Bolzano in order to bring them closer to the single phases of the research. This means bringing teachers and students to the place where the researcher will remove an ice core from the glacier, which is the principal object of their study.
The Ortler Project is made possible through the alliance between several research and territorial management entities (see the complete list), all committed to making sure this research will become a unique experience of scientific knowledge and an opportunity to bring together schools and research.
